How it works
Make sure you book your next flight at qantas.com.
Log in to "Your Account" and choose your flights.
- When you reach the payment page, select "Yes" to the option of Travel Insurance.
- If you have enough Qantas Points to cover the cost of the travel insurance you've selected, you'll be offered the choice of paying with points†. Simply select the Qantas Points option.
You can use points for your Travel Insurance even when you've paid for your flights with a credit card. And don't forget, when you take out one of our insurance options (except Australian Cancellation and Baggage insurance), you'll earn 1 Qantas Point for every dollar you spend†.
* The total number of Qantas Points that can be earned for each Eligible Qantas Assure Product is subject to capping. A list of Eligible Qantas Assure Products and caps associated with them can be found on the Qantas Assure website. Qantas Frequent Flyer members can accrue Locked Qantas Points by completing activities through the Qantas Assure App. A maximum of 3,000 Locked Qantas Points can be accrued. Locked Qantas Points will expire 12 months after the Member last accrued a Locked Qantas Point. Locked Qantas Points can be converted to Qantas Points following purchase of an Eligible Qantas Assure Product. A joining fee usually applies. However, this will be waived, membership is subject to the Qantas Frequent Flyer Terms and Conditions and each application is subject to approval by Qantas.
^ Points Plus Pay is a facility on qantas.com which allows you to choose the number of Qantas Points you redeem above a specified minimum level and pay the remainder with an American Express, credit cards or by Direct Debit . Minimum points levels apply, are subject to change and will be quoted at the time of purchase. When using Points Plus Pay, Qantas Points will be immediately deducted from your Qantas Frequent Flyer account. If an Eligible Qantas Assure Product is cancelled during the 30 day cooling off period, the Qantas Points redeemed for that product will be credited to your Qantas Frequent Flyer account and the amount paid for the product will be refunded to your Accepted Payment Card, or Direct Debit Account. If an Eligible Qantas Assure Product is downgraded or cancelled after the 30 day cooling off period, a pro-rata refund of Qantas Points and money paid will be made for any remaining period after the date of downgrade or cancellation.

† You can only use points for travel insurance when it is obtained as part of a flight booking made on qantas.com. A member must have sufficient points to cover the whole amount of points required to redeem for the travel insurance. A member is unable to use a mixture of points and cash to obtain travel insurance.
