The program currently has nearly 12 million members from over 100 different countries, from newborns to over 100 years young. In our 30 year history we have certainly come a long way. Below we take a look at some fun facts from our journey.

When the program launched, we had three tiers, White, Silver and Gold. Today we have five, from Bronze through to Platinum One.

Early points earning partners were British Airways and American Express both are still partners today. Our newest partners include Airbnb, Jaguar, Land Rover and Deliveroo.

In our early days you could redeem your points for items like a Victa ‘Commando’ lawnmower, an NEC Video Cassette Recorder, or a Zodiac inflatable boat. Today you can choose from over 7,000 items at the Qantas Store.

In 1987, Qantas cabin crew got a makeover when a new Yves Saint Laurent uniform was introduced. We continue the tradition of working with leading designers today, with current uniform designed by Martin Grant.

Members used to earn ‘miles’ by flying certain distances, not points. To date, our members have flown over 1 trillion km's! That's the distance to the moon and back, over a million times. Plan your next trip today.

When the program launched, members could only earn by flying. Today, two thirds of all Qantas Points are earned on the ground through things like credit cards and online shopping.

* Complimentary membership is offered by Qantas Airways Limited ABN 16 009 661 901, available until 31 December 2017 but may be extended or withdrawn at any time. Each application is subject to approval by Qantas. Terms and conditions apply.
